New Orleans VooDoo Football Team adopts Ella Dolhonde!
A special thank you to the New Orleans VooDoo Organization and the VooDoo Dolls for helping us to raise money for books for our new library. The flag football game was a great way to raise money. Thanks!!
A Community of Life Long Learners
Ella Dolhonde Elementary School was built in 1926 and originally known as the Eighth Ward School. In 1941, the school was renamed in honor of the first principal, Miss Ella Dolhonde.
Currently, Dolhonde serves grades pre-K through fifth with enrollment exceeding 400. Dolhonde also has special education teachers who work with children of different exceptionalities including children with autism, learning disabled, emotionally disabled, and mild and moderate disabled students. The school has English as a second language classes serving children from around the world. Other services include a speech and language department, social work services, a gifted program, a talented program which includes visual arts and drama, a band program, ball room dancing, and other programs designed to benefit the academic, social, and the emotional development of all our students.
